Wont Open.

I am running on a new Macbook Pro 15" and this game crashes every single time i try to open it.

Frustrating Interface, but Beautiful Game

Im in my 50s, so that may contribute to my less than enthusiastic review of this game. I find the interface very frustrating. For example, instead of grabbing things directly, it seems that you try a push them around with the edge of the cursor. I dont find that fun or relaxing. However, it is a beautiful game and is very interesting.

Wont run

Cant run the software on a new Macbook Pro running Lion OS. Doesnt crash AFTER launch, it goes straight to crash mode. HELP!

Just Beautiful

Everything about this game made me smile. The music, the art, the humor and simply the way it is played. For those who dont know this game is all about clicking to discover clues which in turn open "new doors" and help you to progress further in the game. There is no dying involved. I love the concept of these little sprite friends helping one another to save their home in nature, a tree. My 3 year old nephew absolutely adores it and I allowed him to play it with me. He calls it the "bug game". It only took me one full day to beat, but I think its a game Ill treasure with my nephew for some time to come :) Hope we can expect to see more!

whimsical and fun!

I really like this game more than machinarium. Its very colorful, visually amazing, and the soundtrack is relaxing. I love the cute little characters and I highly recommend you buy this game!!!

Someone….

Was on the GREEN when they made this one!

Expensive for game

I was a huge fan of Machinarium and thoroughly enjoyed this one, too. However, it was so simplistically easy, that it was solvable in maybe two hours at most. Not nearly enough complexity to be worth $10 bucks. Sorry guys, as cute as it was, it was maybe a $1.99 game in terms of content. A real bummer, especially when your team has such great creativity in your game environments. Just make em more involved please if we are to keep spending that amount of money for them. Im rooting for you!

needs to be longer

the game is great just really short.

another winner

Not too difficult… good length, great graphics. I had no problems opening. I did like machinarium a bit better but still very entertaining.

Not a winner… hardly entertaining!

BEFORE YOU READ THIS REVIEW: I am writing this review to help machinarium fans and non-machinarium fans make up their mind about buying this game. PLEASE judge this review by its quality AND NOT by your opinion of the game! aka, do not Thumbs-down just because you loved this game and i didnt! Respect the opinion of someone who paid for this game, and is providing a review to help gamers such as yourself learn about how others reacted to the game. (isnt that what reviews are about?) *************** For those who played Machinarium before, this is NOT similar! and unfortunately this is NOT a good release from this developer. I love machinarium, I played it nonstop till i finished it, fell in love with the art, concept, puzzles, story, and music. Machinarium took a very little while to pick up, but when it picked up IT PICKED UP! I was truely attached to the story and very entertained by the puzzles. So what about Botanicula? well, the puzzles are not logical WHATSOEVER, you WILL find yourself just clicking random objects on the screen so many times until a non-logical series of events happen that allow you to move on to the next level. You will find yourself very frusturated with the solution of each area or level, not because the puzzles are hard or anything, but because the game feels a bit lazy! The puzzles cannot be descirbed as "hard or easy" because you simply have to click random objects, such as a tiny flower that will spit out some other random object such a fly that will spit out a key! and i am not sure if you can call these tasks you have to complete "puzzles" because they dont require any thinking to resolve. music is okay, sound effects are interesting. the developer tried to make the game cute i guess, for example when a bug flies it simply sounds like a man going like "buzzzzzzz" and not even trying to be realistic… but i guess thats the style of the game and i can respect that. It just wasnt my thing! Overall, i did not like this game. not entertaining. it gets boring. I didnt feel like i was solving anything because of the random-ness of the "puzzles." You dont really participate in the game, you are simply there to let the game take its course and let it do its thing as you click and click over and over…..

Short but sweet

Whoever called this game "interactive art" nailed it. It is just brilliant to look at and to listen to. I love the artistic style with the slightly crude moving cutouts superimposed on the out-of-focus photo-real backdrops. The very organic sound effects (most of them made by human voices) mesh wonderfully with the soundtrack. Heres the only negative: Its far too short for the price. Im all in favor of creative people being justly compensated for the fruits of their labors, but there just isnt enough content to justify a $10 price.

FUN!!!

I love these types of games. I played it with my 6 & 4 year old. They loved helping me choose where to go and figure out the level. I have to admit, I found myself playing when they were not around. The music is beautiful and its an enchanting game! Love love love this game! I wish it was longer!

Great game

Relaxing and interesting. Wonderful graphics, I will buy the sequel

vague

This game is very pretty. It can be fun, and was engaging when I first started to play. However, I find the game less and less interesting as time goes on due to the lack of direction of the gameplay: its quite vague, and there is little point or intent to the challenges of the game. Perhaps this game is more suited to young children: it is bright, full of noise and shuffle, very pretty - its just not very easy to make sense of why the game is having you do what you do. Machinarium was much more logical and had understandable, concrete puzzles and goals.

Outstanding

Amanita never disappoints. Even if youre not a gaming fan, the visuals alone are worth the price. Pure eye candy!

Beautiful, brilliant, but one glaring flaw

I thoroughly enjoyed this game; the artwork, the music, the sense of grandeur. It has one problem, at least on the Mac, that threatens to spoil the whole experience: pulling items from inventory is flaky and unpredictable. I finally had to go looking for clues at one point because I was having such a hard time using a coin that I assumed I was overlooking something. I switched from trackpad to mouse, but that did not improve the situation. Its a key part of the game, and needs to be fixed to maximize the user experience.

Not too interesting

And 10 bucks too much for this. Sad

Immensely clever and creative

Its one of those games where you have to remind yourself not to rush through it-- Its all about the journey! Goal-oriented gameplay (collecting objects) and exploration, with whimsical creatures throughout. Marvelous use of color, light, and sound (and music!) to set the mood of the game, which is anything but flat. Characterization of the creatures is superb. The game designers actually make you LIKE them and care about their success on the voyage. Hard to do with no dialogue! Fabulous, please bring us more!

Mesmerising

Wow, what a beautiful game. Captivating and a really fantastic puzzle. What a joy to play.

Wonderful game

I love these point and click puzzle games. This game was beautifully done. Some of the puzzles are quite tricky. I highly recommend.
